Frequently Asked Questions

Privacy & Data

Where is my data stored?

All your data is stored locally on your iPhone using Apple’s SwiftData framework. There is no SnapCents server or cloud database. If you enable iCloud Sync (a Pro feature), a copy is stored in your personal iCloud account, which only you can access.

Does SnapCents send data to any server?

No. All processing — receipt scanning, voice recognition, AI insights — happens entirely on your device. We do not operate a backend server. No financial data leaves your phone unless you enable iCloud Sync, which stores data in your personal iCloud account through Apple’s CloudKit private database.

Do you use any analytics or tracking?

No. SnapCents does not include any third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs. We do not collect usage data, crash reports, or behavioral analytics. We have no way to see how you use the app.

What happens to my data if I delete the app?

All locally stored data is permanently deleted when you remove the app from your device. If you had iCloud Sync enabled, a copy may remain in your iCloud account until you delete it from iCloud Storage in your device Settings.

Features

How do I add expenses?

Four ways: scan a receipt with your camera, say the expense using voice entry (e.g., “Coffee $4.50 at Blue Bottle”), type it manually using quick entry, or import a PDF bank statement. All methods process data on your device.

Can I track business and personal expenses separately?

Yes. SnapCents supports separate profiles for personal and business expenses. You can switch between them instantly. Each profile has its own transactions, budgets, and reports.

Does the AI assistant work offline?

Yes. The AI assistant uses Apple Foundation Models, which run entirely on your device. It does not require an internet connection. It can answer questions about your spending, summarize trends, and provide insights — all without contacting any server.

Can I import bank statements?

Yes. Download a PDF statement from your bank’s website, then import it into SnapCents. The app uses Apple’s Vision framework to parse the PDF on your device. The file is not uploaded anywhere. This works with most standard bank and credit card statement formats.

Pricing

Is SnapCents free?

Yes. SnapCents has a free tier that includes core features: manual expense entry, receipt scanning, voice entry, basic budgets, and spending charts. The free tier has limits on the number of budgets, custom categories, and AI chat messages per month.

What does Pro include?

Pro unlocks unlimited budgets, unlimited custom categories, unlimited AI chat, iCloud Sync across devices, PDF and Excel export, home screen widgets, Siri shortcuts, and mileage tracking.

Can I try Pro before buying?

The yearly plan includes a 7-day free trial. You can try all Pro features before being charged. After 7 days, your subscription begins automatically unless you cancel.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Open your iPhone Settings, tap your name at the top, then tap Subscriptions. Find SnapCents and tap Cancel Subscription. You keep access until the end of your current billing period. Lifetime purchases do not require cancellation.

Technical

What iOS version is required?

SnapCents requires iOS 26 or later. Some AI features require a device with Apple’s Neural Engine (iPhone 15 Pro or later for on-device Foundation Models).

Does SnapCents work on iPad?

SnapCents is currently iPhone-only. iPad support may be added in a future update.

How does iCloud sync work?

When enabled (Pro feature), SnapCents syncs your data across your Apple devices using Apple’s CloudKit private database. Data is stored in your personal iCloud account, encrypted by Apple, and accessible only to you. We cannot read, access, or view your synced data. You can disable sync at any time in the app’s Settings.
