Privacy Policy
Alt Company (“we”, “us”, or “our”) built SnapCents as a privacy-first iOS application. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our app.
Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect, transmit, or store your receipts, transactions, budgets, or any financial data on our servers.
- We do not use third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs.
- We do not require an account, login, or registration.
- We do not sell, share, or monetize your data in any way.
Data Stored On Your Device
SnapCents stores all data locally on your device using Apple’s SwiftData framework:
- Receipts and transactions — merchant names, amounts, dates, categories, and optional photos
- Budgets — category budgets and spending limits
- Recurring expenses — tracked subscriptions and recurring payments
- Mileage trips — distance, purpose, and deduction calculations
- User preferences — currency, appearance, notification settings
- Custom categories — user-created expense categories
This data is stored in your device’s local storage and is protected by your device passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID.
On-Device AI Processing
SnapCents uses Apple’s Foundation Models framework for AI features including:
- Receipt text recognition (OCR)
- Automatic expense categorization
- Spending insights and summaries
- AI chat assistant
All AI processing happens entirely on your device. No data is sent to external AI services, cloud APIs, or third-party servers.
Optional iCloud Sync (Pro Feature)
If you purchase SnapCents Pro and enable iCloud Sync, your data is synced across your devices using Apple’s CloudKit private database. This means:
- Data is stored in your personal iCloud account, encrypted and accessible only to you.
- We cannot access, read, or view your synced data.
- You can disable iCloud Sync at any time in Settings.
- Apple’s iCloud is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
If you do not enable iCloud Sync, no data leaves your device.
Purchases
SnapCents Pro is available as a subscription or one-time lifetime purchase, processed through Apple’s App Store. We do not collect or have access to your payment information. All payment processing is handled by Apple and governed by Apple’s Terms and Conditions.
Camera and Photo Library Access
SnapCents requests camera access only to scan receipts. Photos are processed on-device and stored locally. We do not upload, transmit, or share your photos.
Microphone and Speech Recognition
Voice entry uses Apple’s on-device speech recognition. Audio is processed locally and is not transmitted to any server.
Your Rights Under GDPR (EU/EEA Users)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation:
- Right of Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to Rectification — Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Right to Erasure — Request deletion of your data. You can delete all app data at any time by deleting the app from your device or using the “Delete All Data” option in Settings.
- Right to Data Portability — Your data can be exported via the CSV and PDF export features within the app.
- Right to Restrict Processing — Since all processing happens on your device, you control processing by choosing which features to use.
- Right to Object — You may stop using the app at any time.
- Right to Lodge a Complaint — You may contact your local data protection authority.
Since SnapCents processes all data on your device and does not transmit personal data to external servers, most of these rights are automatically fulfilled by the app’s architecture.

Your Rights Under CCPA (California Users)
If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act:
- Right to Know — You may request what categories of personal information we collect and for what purpose. SnapCents stores expense data, receipt images, and budget settings on your device only.
- Right to Delete — You may request deletion of your personal information. Delete the app or use “Delete All Data” in Settings.
- Right to Opt-Out of Sale — SnapCents does not sell, share, or disclose your personal information to third parties for monetary or other valuable consideration.
- Right to Non-Discrimination — We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

Children’s Privacy
SnapCents is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used this app, the data exists only on that device and can be removed by deleting the app.
Data Retention and Deletion
All your data (expenses, receipts, budgets, mileage trips) is stored locally on your device using Apple’s SwiftData framework. If you enable iCloud Sync (Pro feature), a copy is stored in your personal iCloud account under your Apple Account — we do not have access to this data.
Data persists until you:
- Delete individual entries within the app
- Use “Delete All Data” in Settings
- Delete the app from your device
We do not maintain any server-side copies of your data. There is no backend database or cloud service operated by us.
Disclaimer
Information on this page describes our current data practices. In the event of any discrepancy between this policy and the information displayed within the App or the App Store, the in-app disclosures shall prevail.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
